Betaversity recently launched BetaBox, a mobile prototyping lab, loaded with rapid prototyping tools like 3D printers, laser cutters, scanners, design equipment as well as speed of though materials all inside a 25-foot-long shipping container.

Blake Marggraff, a Washington University at St. Louis biology student, together his two partners has developed BetaBox.

BetaBox is just like a portable makerspace useful for a K12 school, a university, or a company to get streamlined solution for rapid prototyping toward the classes, events, conferences, and community outreach projects.

Win prizes worth more than $7000 by participating 3D Robot Challenge

To cope up with the increasing demand for robotics technology, CGTrader.com is going to organize a 3D Robot Challenge for its community comprising more than 120,000 3D designers to facilitate designing and visualizing the robots of the next generation.

Under this 3d robot challenge, all the participating designers will have to walk around the sci-fi theme by means of the highly developed technological creatures in the form of our neighbours, counterparts as well as enemies in the next decades.

The participants have to generate robot 3D models and upload them to CGTrader.com. Submitted model should belong to best 3d robot model and best 3d robot portfolio. The designers, who will submit more models in the best 3d robot portfolio, will get the chance to be declared as winner. There will be one winner and two runner-ups in each category.

The challenge will commence from the 22nd December 2014 and will continue upto 15th February 2015. There lots of prizes for winners which range from Motion Design Bundles by Video Copilot, iClone Animation Pipeline Toolkits by Reallusion, two KeyShot5 licenses by Luxion, one CGschool video from V-Ray or 3ds Max by CG School, 200 credits and promotional features by CGTrader. The runner-ups will get prizes like 3D Shader Bundles by Video Copilot, iClone5 PRO Bundles by Reallusion, Video of choice from V-Ray or 3ds Max classes by CG School and 100 credits by CGTrader.

The 3d robot challenge will be a great platform for 3d designers to showcase their creativity and imagination toward creating stunning robot models.

Presently, CGTrader is also conducting 3D Systems Art Challenge, 3D Architecture Challenge and 3D Printed Kids’ Toys Challenge, where designers get the ability to upload both paid and free 3D models.

Participate with 3d printing design challenge organized by 3D systems & CGTrader

CGTrader is making alliance with one 3D Systems, the big name in 3d printing technology, to organize an exclusive artistic design competetion. The competition will continue from November 14 , 2014, to January 11, 2015.

The theme of the competition is 3D printed art for the living space. The participants have to submit entries for furniture, wall art, sculpture, vases, figurines, product design or home decor. The overall winner of the Best Portfolio category will receive a CubePro 3D printer worth $2,799. The champion of the ‘Best Model’ category will get a 3Doodler pen.

All the participants have to upload their designs to CG Trader, whereupon they can provide a price on these designs. There exit two categories for the challenge. The first one is the Best Model Category with one winner and two runner-ups. The reward is given for the most excellent 3D Art models uploaded throughout the competition phase.

The winner will receive:
  • A CubePro printer by 3D Systems
  • One roll of Innofil3D fillament by Igo3d
  • One roll of Ninjaflex fillament by Fennerdrives
  • 200 USD in credits by CG Trader
  • Promotional features by CG Trader
The runners-up will receive:

  • 100 USD in credits by CGTrader

The second category refers to the Best 3D Art Portfolio Category with one winner and two runners-up. The winner will get:

  • 300 USD in credits by CG Trader
