AddOrthoScenes (1.0.2) for sketchup 2018

Smustard Team has developed AddOrthoScenes, the newest sketchup extension available in extension warehouse. This sketchup extension is compatible with SketchUp 6, SketchUp 7, SketchUp 8, SketchUp 2013, SketchUp 2014, SketchUp 2015, SketchUp 2016, SketchUp 2017, SketchUp 2018.

The extension can be used to include scene orthographically by providing x,y,z offsets.
AddOrthoScenes facilitates the users to generate new scenes depending on the existing view by arranging the number of scenes to be produced and the x, y, and z offsets for every new scene. The initial offset is from the existing active view, and in the case of several new scenes arranged, each supplementary offset of the scene is relative to the last scene produced by the plugin.
It is suitable for generating scene-based tutorials or anything else that is required to illustrate a progression of steps. It is also very effective for producing fly-by type animations, where two scenes allocate a camera angle (concerning the global drawing axes) but contain various station points.
The AddOrthoScenes menu item appears in the View menu.
This sketchup extension is available in extension warehouse.( extensions.sketchup.com)
Go through the following video tutorial to gather more information about the plugin.

Some useful sketchup tips to improve your modelling skill with sketchup

Given below, some handy tips for sketchup users to improve their modeling skills significantly.
01. Apply the 3D Warehouse gallery: examine and cleanse models prior to importing them.
There is a universe of downloadable 3D models made by other users that can fast-track the construction of your own models. To avoid adding additional information such as lines, layers, and materials, which will only increase file sizes, purge the model's components before saving them.
02. Place the model properly in space.
Geo-referencing a project facilitates you to consider it with regards to location, an intuitive quality for any successful architectural scheme. It is required to place a 3D model, avail it from the window> model information> geolocation> add location / define location customarily.
It is also very important to consider the time zone of each location.
03. Employ plugins and explore the new things in Extension Warehouse.
SketchUp users create different types of plugins which provide solution to the problems in each version as well as utilize the capability of accessible tools, and integrate new 3D modeling equipment.
Extensions are available from Solar North, which offer tools to fix the orientation for the angle of sunlight and shadows, to Sketchy FFD, a mesh operated with a series of control points in its vertices and edges to manipulate the dimensions of the chosen object.
04. Arrange and save your toolbar settings.
It is very crucial to customize the work surroundings as per your requirements and preferences. Make sure that your ideal settings are saved for future application, just manage sufficient time to arrange a toolbar. It will be possible to accomplish tasks in organized way and invest more time in concepts, design, and detailing.
05. Utilize groups and components to streamline editing and developing a model.
The most powerful feature of sketchup is to arrange models into groups of objects, lines or figures. The process is very quick and easy (secondary button> create group) and facilitate you to modify a specific section of your model (by double-clicking on it), keeping the other figures near the object unchanged. It is suggested to double-click on the newly generated surface, thus choose both faces and edges, and make a group prior to utilize the push / pull tool or any other modification.

How to customize your rendering with v-ray 3.4

This is an exclusive tutorial for sketchup v-ray users.
In this video, you can learn how to fully reset the scene; save, reload v-ray settings; render flap as well as enhance the resolution of the image in v-ray 3.4.
In v-ray 3.4, the V-Ray Asset Editor is applied to control V-Ray related assets and V-Ray render settings in an efficient manner. In quick setting option, just drag the parameter setting, and it’ll be rectified automatically in material view.
Now, the users can alter the behavior of the render icon in vray rendering and options toolbar with a simple mouse click.
Batch Render facilitates the users to arrange all of your scene tabs, and render every individual scene tab with one click of mouse.
The V-Ray 6:1 Stereoscopic Render button automatically produces a 6:1 aspect ratio cube map for both eyes, relevant with easily available V-R Headsets. V-Ray will automatically create a stereoscopic image by clicking on the 6:1 Stereoscopic Render button.

To watch online demonstration, go through the following video.

How to create photorealistic scenery with trees and plants – An exclusive tutorial by Paul Mort

Paul Mort presents an exclusive 3D tutorial on producing naturalistic scenery with trees and plants.

To make this, the following three most recognized 3d modeling program is used :-

Gimp 2 (a graphics package). On can download and apply this program at free of cost. Just go to www.gimp.org to obtain the most updated version.

SketchUp Make 2016. This program can also be downloaded at free of cost from www.sketchup.com. Finally, download SketchUp2xplane plugin to transform objects from SketchUp to the native X-Plane format (.obj). The most updated version is 1.70 and is accessible from https://marginal.org.uk/x-planescenery/tools.html

The following object is taken with a transparent background. This image will be imported into SketchUp. Now, left click on the image to get the blue lines which mark its edges. Therefore, illustrating the background (of that specific image) is really transparent (Figure 1).

The most vital feature about the image is that in order to efficiently transform it to X-Plane, it should contain 512x512 in pixel size. In order to resize the image smoothly, search through Google for square images to utilize. It will provide the exact aspect ratio to apply.

By importing the image into SketchUp, one can obtain .png image (resized to 512x512) containing a transparent background.

Now you have to know how to place the image in sketchup perfectly. Take red axis as ground level, so image should be modified unless it is positioned on top of this line. A small portion below ground is acceptable as it is completely transparent in this case. To take the benefit, all the unnecessary grass and earth adjacent to the base of the tree are removed instantly. It is performed by just dropping the tree slightly underneath the red axis, making the grass and earth vanish (Figure 2)!

An exclusive tutorial on v-ray light material

The v-ray material is a special material included with the V-Ray renderer. This material is usually applied in creating self-illuminated surfaces. It also facilitates speedy rendering rather than with a Standard 3ds Max material through self-illumination. It can also transform an object into an actual mesh light source.

The VRayLightMtl can be used as light source allocated to an object. If the value of the color is enhanced it will influence the GI solution and will generate more light. The overbright colors may appear as identical as pure white but the GI results may vary.

Go through the following exclusive tutorial on V-ray light material presented by 3D tutorial which focuses on how the materials perform in V-ray for 3ds max as well as how it’s various parameters control the overlook of the final outputs.

How to extrude a 3D object along a straight path with the ‘follow me tool’ inside sketchup

Justin Geis, the founder of www.thesketchupessentials.com, presents a nice tutorial on Follow Me tool inside sketchup.

BThe sketchup follow me tool is an excellent tool for generating extruded shapes as compared to other toolset in sketchup.

With this video tutorial Justin briefly focuses on the fundamentals of applying follow me tool as well as how to extrude a 3D object along a straight path. The 3d modelers can find this tutorial useful for creating the models of wood base, pipes, cabinets, and various other objects.

In order to access the follow me tool, go to ‘view’ menu and select the ‘Toolbars’ option. Then opt for the ‘large toolset’ option and hit the close button. Now a toolbar will be visible at the left side of the screen with several options. After scrolling there will be an option visible with a brown half circle having a curving red arrow inside it. This is called follow me tool.
