Chaos group launched V-ray for Unreal 1 to fetch v-ray scenes from sketchup directly into unreal engine

Chaos recently introduced V-Ray for Unreal 1 to deliver V-Ray scenes from Autodesk 3ds Max and Maya, Trimble SketchUp, and McNeel Rhino directly into Unreal Engine, a series of 3D content development tools from Epic Games that produces photorealistic rendering in real time.

The users will be able to render ray-traced, photorealistic images with V-Ray directly from Unreal.

V-Ray for Unreal Update 1 provides support for native Unreal materials, so anybody having a secured Unreal pipeline can render animations, still images, and more as a whole, with 100% ray-traced precision.

This feature facilitates the designers to avail various V-Ray techniques like photorealistic light baking and interactive rendering, devoid of modifying their workflows.

The update offers specific benefit for CAD users by providing 1:1 support for Datasmith material translations. Datasmith belongs to a collection of tools and plugins which allow the artists and designers importing the data into Unreal Engine; it supports CAD and digital content development sources along with Autodesk 3ds Max.

Update 1 also provides viewport rendering, therefore the users can render interactively, with the effects of light and material adjusts rapidly which are shown in the Unreal viewport. If required, the users can activate V-Ray to generate photorealistic “beauty shots” and reference checks from inside Unreal. Physically based lighting offers the designers with the most realistic view of how their assets will be demonstrated in a real-world situation.

“V-Ray for Unreal contains improved KPF’s visualization process from offline rendering to VR and AR, facilitating the users to obtain superior, faster results with fewer applications. The light baking functionality facilitates baking large scenes with greater quality. Rendering can be performed on CPUs, NVIDIA GPUs, or a combination thereof.

The light baking (quantifying lighting and shadow effects before time while rendering an object) is now as much as 60% faster, whereas retaining quality levels.

Pricing: V-Ray for Unreal Update 1 is free for existing customers; new seats can be brought $80 (monthly) or $470 (annually). Education pricing of $99 is accessible for students, educators, and universities.

Some useful guidelines to perform exterior rendering with v-ray next for sketchup

This is an exclusive video tutorial for v-ray sketchup users. In this tutorial, detail process is given for performing a naturalistic exterior rendering with v-ray next for sketchup.

The following tools are used for different purposes :-

1. Sandbox tool, for forming the ground.
2. Artisan for completing the ground detail.

3. Solar North for settling the sun originates.
4. Skatter, to spray the assets to the ground.
5. Laubwerk, for adding the trees.

Sandbox Tools (extensions.sketchup.com)

The Sandbox Tools extension applies the concept of a sandbox that belongs to a surface to be created and managed with sandbox tools. This sketchup extension is effective for landscape design.

Artisan (sketchucation.com)

This sketchUp extension comprises of powerful organic modeling tools. Artisan can be used to create Terrain, Furniture, Characters, Abstract Sculptures, Fabric/Curtains/Pillows, Rocks/Tree Trunks/Plants etc.

Solar North (extensions.sketchup.com)

It offers tools for the users to settle and exhibit the solar north angle that SketchUp applies to work out the sun location, and consequently shadow directions.

Skatter (extensions.sketchup.com)

With skatter, it is possible to populate your scenes with unconstrained vegetation with complete control, all while saving time and never leave SketchUp.

From small carpets in a living room to large scale forests, Skatter is developed to facilitate retaining the final look rapidly and efficiently.

Laubwerk (www.laubwerk.com)

Laubwerk provides user-friendly software extensions for architects and CG artists who are in search for genuine 3D plants, and plant scattering tools. With drag-and-drop simplicity, and user-friendly tools to alter the shape, age, season and level of detail for each of Laubwerk's spectacular 3D plants, users will be able to effortlessly add 3D trees to any CG project. It is compatible with Autodesk 3ds Max & Maya, MAXON Cinema 4D, SideFX Houdini, Trimble SketchUp, and Python.
