For LAW Architects in Melbourne, its design for Viewbank College's Performing Arts Center and STEAM Precinct would have been a much progressively impressive task without SketchUp. That, yet the program's utilization amicability implied they could make their own modules to take care of business and set principles for best practice.

The Performing Arts Center Project

The Performing Arts Center, when finished, will be a two-story office involving an adaptable assembly hall and theater arranging, including back of house specialized, stockpiling and taking care of offices, front-of house social occasion and anteroom spaces and related dramatization and music learning spaces.

The program incorporates extra broad learning study halls and a reason fabricated Materials Technology office as a component of the school's more extensive learning and educational program procedure. Another shelter will furnish a climate ensured interface with the repaired connecting two story working to make a STEAM learning area.

How Architects Use Sketchup to Work on this Project

SketchUp was utilized by LAW Architects from the very first moment of the task, including being utilized to survey where best in the scene the structures would work. The group developed fundamental 'obstructs' to help pass on the design in its condition. These were imparted to the partners and the siting was conceded to, moving the task to the following phase of architectural ideas.

"The design answer for this venture prompted a mind boggling course of action of adaptable spaces which would have been trying to impart without the utilization of SketchUp," said senior engineer and design advisor Barde Gregory.

By utilizing predefined furniture Symbols or Components, you can make your own design work simpler and progressively effective.

The program fuses additional expansive learning study corridors and an explanation manufactured Materials Technology office as a part of the school's increasingly broad learning and instructive program strategy. Another heaven will outfit an atmosphere guaranteed interface with the fixed associating two story attempting to make a STEAM learning region.

SketchUp makes it simple to:

1. Make Components to picture furniture in 2D or 3D models.
2. Turn, Place and alter your parts as you format the furniture.
3. Make 3D renderings to make it simple to picture furniture.

The gathering developed the Cross Reference Organizer module to allow every partner to propel their design in their model space while acquiring other associates' parts as Cross Referenced portions. With complex assignments, for instance, this model is created and worked in parts as free SketchUp archives. SketchUp is used through the design course of action, from thought through to detail design. These parts are significant considering the way that people from the gathering must have the choice to manage the assignment at the same time.

Taking things significantly further, in SketchUp you can make exceptional Components with characteristics, utilize unique situations and altering schedules, tweak properties and reports, and make parts records and introductions for customers. The design answer for this endeavor incited an amazing strategy of adaptable spaces which would have been attempting to confer without the usage of SketchUp.

What’s New in SketchUp Pro 2020: Part 2

In our previous article, we have started talking about the all-new SketchUp Pro 2020 and the new features in it. We have mentioned the new scale figure, the interface enhancements, new object hiding selection, and new organizational abilities. While those were plenty exciting by themselves, it’s not all! SketchUp Pro has much more to offer. Let us see the rest of what’s new in the SketchUp Pro 2020.

Today, we will talk about the following:
New Nomenclature, LayOut 2020, Document control, Model Views, Customization, ...etc

The New Nomenclatures: The Trimble team has been deliberating over this for a while now. Without changing your workflow, the new naming conventions are supposed to give you better control over your model. The naming system is more logical now, and they sound more appropriate.

Naming changes in SketchUp 2020

a. ‘Objects’ now collectively mean groups and components. This includes dynamic components as well.
b. ‘Layers’ now are called tags.

This means you won’t have to use multiple words to mean a bunch of similar stuff now. Also, the thinking process of the designer changes depending upon the words that are used in the design interface.

SketchUp Extension Review: Eneroth Upright Extruder

Among the most used extensions for Trimble SketchUp, the Eneroth Upright Extruder stands out for its unique features and usability. Today we will talk about how we can use this powerful extension to easily modify and design complex models.

Designed by Eneroth3, the Eneroth Upright Extruder (EUE) is available for SketchUp 2013 and above. Of course, it requires the Pro version of SketchUp to install plugins into this awesome 3D modeling interface.

What is Eneroth Upright Extruder

The EUE is an extension for the SketchUp software which is used for 3D modeling and rendering. With this extension, you can project profiles while maintaining it upright.

In the default SketchUp tools pools, there is a similar tool available called "Follow Me". However, the Follow Me tool keeps the sides of the extrusion straight. This leads to not keeping the extrusion upright. The EUE extension remedies this issue by twisting the sides to make the project the extrusion upwards.

SketchUp Extension Review: TrueBend

Arguably the most popular 3D modeling and design software on earth, Trimble SketchUp gathers its immense following and customer base due to the user-friendliness and flexibility of the application. The flexibility comes from the enabling of adding external code, called “extensions” or “plugins”, into SketchUp. These extensions enhance the way SketchUp tools behave, add new tools or new content to enrich and ease your usage of the software.
One of the points to remember while intending to use SketchUp extensions is that only the SketchUp Pro version or above allows the users to import extensions within it. The Free, Make or Shop versions do not have this ability.
Most extensions for SketchUp are found in the Extension Warehouse from Trimble, which has released the 2.0 version of it recently with new and improved features. Other third-party web sites also host SketchUp extensions. One of these Extensions is called TrueBend, and it is that of which we will talk about today.

What is TrueBend

TrueBend from Thom Thom is a quite popular Trimble SketchUp extension found in the Extension Warehouse. When integrated with SketchUp, it enables the user to bend a given object for a certain degree. It will retain the original length of the object instance. The plugin uses the bottom front of the bounding box edge, therefore the user needs to line up the instant axis line up with the bend.

How TrueBend Works

The TrueBend plugin helps the user in bending an object within SketchUp for a given radius. It will also help you to bend the instance while maintaining the length of the object. Let us take an example to understand this better. Consider that the user wishes to bow a shape 60 inches long and the curvature of the bend is 180 degrees. To do this, the user needs to select ‘TrueBend’ in the menus or toolbar, and then click and drag the red bar on the SketchUp design screen to bend the object. Alternatively, you can click the red bar and enter the curvature value in degrees in the VCB for a precise manual curving. After finishing the dragging, or hitting enter after giving the value, you will see that the object instance has bowed to form the expected shape yet it still retains the original length.

"Review of the Whimsical Furniture ”

Annie Bossert, a fiber artist and woodworker who creates functional and playful pieces that bring levity to everyone’s experience by mixing her talents in woodworking and fiber arts.

Annie Bossert is a mixed media artist who is specialized in custom furniture design; she grew up on a farm in central Illinois where her love for stripes also born as she lived with rows of rows of corn and soybeans. She started her career as a furniture maker where she used plywood to express her interest in stripes by cutting different angles into the plywood to make different striping effects. Anne indirectly got into woodworking through working with textiles; she loved to mix different ways to combine her textiles and woodworking while working in her shop in Fort Collins, CO.

Recently Anne is designing and building all of the studio furniture pictured on her website; she is a fiber artist and a woodworker mixed up into one person. Her designs are original but she is quite inspired by mid-twentieth century furniture and industrial design.

This article is a little description about Anne’s recent work “The Whimsical Furniture” and some details about her life, work and inspiration etc.

Little about the start of Anne’s interest in designing:

In her words, her mom inspired her to be interested in strips from her childhood when her mom gave her some clothes and told her to sew them. It was her first introduction to the world of textiles as well as the concept of making hr won designs. This mindset led her to join a furniture making class where she made her first work, storage for CDs than a plastic milk crate. Besides taking classes on woodworking, she also developed her knitting and weaving skills to make more designs on wood. After a few years, she joined in a job in a sign shop where she had to fabricate signs that helped to better understandings of tools and making.

Little about her furniture design:

She is a fond of functional art and loves to assemble all the careful curation of the objects with surrounded objects to make them more interesting and beautiful. She always tries to challenge people’s expectations about the look of furniture with their mood; in her works, she mess with their perceptions on views and then she dyes and weaves stripes into the textiles that are the same width as the stripes of the laminations in her used plywood. When the striped fabric is mixed into a piece of striped plywood and both dyed in the same color than the mind blowing furniture comes out.

Her ways to communicate design intent to customers:

Anne does a lot of commissioned pieces so she has to ensure that her customers have a solid understanding of what they will be getting. Whenever she makes something which is hand dyed or hand woven fabric, she makes a custom material in SketchUp; she at first simply scan a sample of her fabric and paint into her SketchUp model for maximum realism. According to her, SketchUp helps her to make simple designs wonderful through easy used tools.

More about her design process:

She follows a new design process that she has developed in the last couple of years; it is an exciting process where she at first cut an angle into plywood and saw all the hideous different stripes inside the materials, then she saved the offcuts and scrapes from projects. But now she likes to begin with a composition of offcuts as doors or drawer fronts and then design a piece of furniture to work more over it. So she will lay out the offcut assemblage, then measure it, photograph it, then put it into SketchUp, size the image to scale and then sketch the furniture design to work more.

"Highlights of some amazing 3D Printed Projects in 2019”

The 3D printing technology allows any kind of design to be brought to life which releases architects from the limitations of standard construction.

3D printing or additive manufacturing is way of making three dimensional solid objects from a digital life. The creation or making of a 3D printed object is achieved using additive processes and in this process, an object is made by laying down successive layers of material till the object is created. Each of these layers can be visible as a thinly sliced horizontal cross-section of the eventual object. So basically 3D printing is the opposite of subtractive manufacturing which is cutting out a piece of metal or plastic with for specimen a milling machine.

SketchUp is just made for 3D printing and designing in SketchUp is cool as 3D printing is something that moves is cooler and unique than that. In this article we are going to discuss about a few features that can be include by the users to make their creations more than just interestingly shaped hunks of immobile plastic. Aidan Chopra and Rebecca Huehls this time comes up with new tricks about 3D printing in SketchUp.

SketchUp or Google SketchUp is owned by Trimble Inc., a mapping, surveying and navigation company. It is mainly a 3D modeling computer program that is used for a broad range of drawing applications used by architects, interior designer, landscape architects, civil and mechanical engineers, film and video game designers also.

3D printing technology has changed many industries globally and among them most impact can be seen on Construction industry which offers freedom and versatility in a right budget. This article will describe four new 3D Printed projects in 2019 among Construction industry.

Most of the companies that use 3D printed program in construction are startups businesses are still in their developing phase though the number of countries using 3D technology is growing every day. Dubai is the leader of those countries where the most famous and luxurious UAE city has started a new structure that will be going to be built by using 3D technology.

  • Project Milestone: This is based in Eindhoven (the Netherlands), the engineers of Netherlands are planning to build five 3D printed concrete homes; this unique project makes them the first commercial housing project using 3D technology. Where the homes will be of new ages, having all kind of comforts etc.
  • Apis Cor: It is a startup which is located in San Francisco made a demonstration of its own 3D technology by creating a house in Stupino, Russia in 2016. Their technology is versatile and mobile as they printed the whole home on site to cut the transport expense. In future they are expecting to make homes using dual extrusion that will allow printing components other than the concrete structure. Recently the company has collaborated with SEArch+ and entered the “3D Printed Habitat Challenge”, a contest organized by NASA.
  • New Story: It is a nonprofit located in Texas who has partnered with Icon which is a company that creates printers, robotics and advanced materials to work on affordable housing solutions.
  • WinSun: WinSun created its first houses in 2013 using the first continuous 3D printer; they used a special mixture made of sand, cement and fibre along with suitable additions to print house components layer by layer in their Suzhou factory in China.
