SketchUp models look much better when their surfaces get
texture and color. Heiko Rech provides some useful tips through this sketchup
video for applying color and texture maps to the surfaces of your sketchup
models to make them beautiful as well as include detail and realism to your
models.
SketchUp facilitates you to paint materials on faces.
Materials basically belong to paints which contain a color and optional
texture.
Once you apply materials to your model, the special
abilities of SketchUp’s materials can allow you to perform various tasks like
replace one material with another, edit the material, measure the quantities of
materials required.
SketchUp comprises of different types of materials
collections: carpet, tile, groundcover, glass, wood, and more. It is possible
to generate your own material if the particular material, you are looking for
is unavailable.
Within the SketchUp interface, the materials are modeled with
the Paint Bucket tool and the Materials browser (Microsoft Windows) or the Colors
browser (Mac OS X). The Materials or Colors browser also facilitates you to
view, manage, and arrange the materials. With the Materials or Colors browser,
it becomes easier to monitor the materials in your model and produce your own
custom materials collections as per your projects or workflows.
