Unwrap and Flatten Faces for Sketchup

Alex Schreyer, the recognized teacher at the University of Massachusetts, is the developer of Unwrap and Flatten Faces plugin for sketchup. The most updated version of this sketchup plugin is V2.0. Unwrap and Flatten Faces plugin supports SketchUp 8SketchUp 2013, SketchUp 2014 andSketchUp 2015.

To apply the plugin, just right click on your component to be flattened, you will get the flatten faces option in the menu tab. The plugin is ideal for producing physical models.

The sketchup users can apply the plugin to unwrap faces as well as set randomly oriented faces flat on the ground.

The plugin contains the following functionalities:-
  • Unwrap non-coplanar faces through an automatic (arbitrary) algorithm and after that place the consequential set of faces flat on the ground.
  • Set any randomly-oriented face or series of coplanar faces flat on the ground. Apply together wih a manual unfold tool or ensure faces are rightly horizontal.
This extension can be used for generating fabric or sheet-metal templates, laser-cutting templates, as CNC-prep, for texturing, etc.

The plugin is available in sketchup extension warehouse, alternatively you can download it from this link.( www.alexschreyer.net/projects/flatten-faces-plugin)
