Some exclusive workshops on digital manufacturing with sketchup

Some exclusive workshop will be held in Ljubljana, Slovenia on June, 2014 to discuss and practice how to utilize a CNC milling machine, 3d printer & PLA rapid prototyping, rapid 3d modeling with sketchup. The attendees will be provided a tailored 3d printer having a milling head to slice and form several materials. There will be practical training to accomplish small projects. Some open source software and machineries will be utilized in this workshop
By participating with this workshop, all the participants will be familiar with the fundamentals of digital fabrication and adopt all the essential knowledge required to produce simple 2d models to cut and shape.

The workshop will be very useful for Tinkerers, makers, product and industrial designers; architects, carpenters, engineers as well as any other professionals or individual prefer to put their steps in the enthralling world of digital manufacturing.

The workshop will be conducted in English language with Slovenian speaking assistant.
The attendees have to bring their individual laptop with SketchUp installed.

Humber College is offering online courses on 3D landscape modeling through Sketchup Pro

Humber College is conducting an online course on sketchup which is known as Landscape Graphics with SketchUp Pro. The course is very useful for Landscape designers and architects, Permaculturists, Farmers, Land planners, Educators as well as anyone who want to use digital drafting.

By undergoing the course, the attendees can learn the following advanced technology.

  • a latest combined three-dimensional design and modelling method
  • Conventional presentation documents along with a complete set of 2-dimensional landscape plans
  • Computer-supported presentations, slide shows and animations
  • Incorporation with imported design components involving base maps and construction elements
  • 3-dimensional landscape modeling
  • Terrain modeling
  • Incorporation with Excel spreadsheets and Word documents.

Introduction to Interior Design and SketchUp

London school of Design will be going to conduct a course on sketchup. The course details are as follows:-

SketchUp (Advanced) : This is a 3 week course/ 1 Day per week, Wednesdays (10.00 – 17.00),1 hour lunch break (13.00 – 14.00).

Course 1: February 12 – March 5, 2014

(there will be no classes on February 19)

Course 2: April 2 – April 30, 2014

(there will be no classes on April 9 and 16)

Course 3: June 4 – June 18, 2014

All the participating students must join before 10 minutes of commencing the classes.

The course is useful for intermediate as well as advanced users. The attendees can learn the following from these classes:-

Day 1: In first day, the sketchup users will gather knowledge on components which involve axes, swapping components, dynamic components, reprocessing accessible geometry, libraries. Special focus will be give on Staircase. Learn to produce a smart staircase by applying dynamic components as well as straight flight, dog-leg stair with landing, spirals.

Day 2: In 2nd day, there will be brief demonstration on Plugins. Learn the basic of plugin and its various applications. Also learn how plugins can save huge time for sketchup users. Get acquainted with the top ten most recognized plugins for sketchup users.

Day 3: In 3rd day, the attendee will gather knowledge on scenes, layers, styles, outliner, texture. Also learn how to categorize SketchUp model for presentation or exports as well as how to maneuver exported images in Photoshop.

  • Importing/Exporting JPEG, DXF to be utilized as reference/concepts.
  • Moving forward with SketchUp – gadgets, 3D mouse, tablets, 3D scanners, 3D printing.

Go through the following tutorial which will facilitate the attendees to get some useful ideas on what sketch can perform and what one can discover from the Beginners class through to the Advanced tutorials.

What the attendees should fetch with them?

  • Bring your personal laptop/powerbook in each day of the SketchUp course. One can also pre-load the free SketchUp software before participating the course. One can also download their copy direct from http://www.sketchup.com/. Also confirm that your laptop is configured for Internet connections.
  • A 3-button mouse having left click, right click and central scroll.
  • A USB flash drive that contains minimum 4Gb memory.
  • An A4 or A5 size notebook and pen/pencil.

Please note - The course is useful for both Windows and Mac users. One can also bring their own Mac or Windows laptop to this skills class.

Infinite skills introduces Learning SketchUp 2013 Video Training - DVD

Software training firm Infinite Skills Inc. just released “Learning SketchUp 2013 Tutorial. The course is very useful for beginner Sketchup users to learn the basic skills and the best application of the Sketchup software.
Daniel Brown is the presenter of this course. Daniel is a well know Sketchup trainer. He also serves as the contractor for Google for performing with Sketchup on Google Earth.
In this training video Daniel presents fundamental navigation features like toolbars and performing with templates, Brown begins with the fundamentals of drawing on SketchUp involving tools for producing lines, arcs, circles, and lots other.
Brown assists the students by providing the design of a house started with the roof, calculating measurements, arranging the model, and making all the custom features concerning a house which engross doors and windows, kitchen installations, a fireplace, and more.

Brown then demonstrates the usage of 3D Warehouse by importing furniture models from its store of assemblies into the design as well as , how to complete the house with its exterior.
There exist various chapters which guide the students for making presentations to their Sketchup design. Students also learn how to generate scenes and styles from their sketchup models, make a rendering composite in Photoshop, insert lighting and reflections to feel the pragmatism and lastly make a presentation with layout.

SketchUp for Planners & architects - A 39 minutes introductory course with video

The course is designed for planners and architects to learn how they characterize three-dimensional objects in two-dimensions involving step-by-step tutoring for generating and applying simple 3D models. The course will be very useful for beginner level.

Chapter 1 - Introduction (1:56m)
With this chapter get a detailed synopsis of the course focusing on what you will discover and why the course is essential. Get introduced with SketchUp and come to know how it provides huge benefits to planners and architects.

Chapter 2 - Getting Started (5:42m)
Be trained how to start with SketchUp by downloading the program, setting the preferences, and navigating around the user interface.

Chapter 3 - Thinking in Three Dimensions (4:55m)
Have some experience on how planners and architects express the 3D world in two dimensions, applying a simple model of a house as for instance.

Chapter 4 - Drawing in Sketchup (6:04m)
