Some useful tips to get the best result from your rendering with V-ray

It is very challenging task for all the artists to provide a perfect realistic look in their 3d scenes. In this regard V-ray can be handy tool to arrange scenes & render them perfectly as well as particularly resolve and polish up the images. V-Ray 3.0 is the most improved version that contains a wide array of new toolset useful for augmenting your workflow speed as well as making the rendering quality better.

The renowned digital artist Vinnie LaCour has presented some useful tips focusing on some of the advanced features of V-ray 3.0

Latest UI synopsis: With V-Ray Quick Settings dialog, the users can avail their desirable render settings and these can be used in new scenes for having quick views effortlessly.

This dialog provides the users some fundamental settings to start with. There is a setting button with some options through which the users can get the render settings dialogue directly where the users can adjust some of the advanced controls. There also exist Basic, Advanced and Expert modes in the UI interface.

Scene Arrangement: Provide a little lights and a ground plane, and apply VRaySunlight and VRayDomeLight. For experimentation of lighting, one can include a V-Ray material to the supersede material slot and keep out glass objects.

Progressive rendering facilitates the users to envisage their renders swiftly devoid of retarding for a final frame. The users will be able to have a instant preview of their scene and they don’t require to switch renders or modify settings. The Progressive rollout exists directly under the image sampler rollout and it includes the lowest amount and highest samples and maximum render time.

Final Amendments: V-Ray frame buffer is also significantly improved. There are new inclusions to the color correction and these are very useful to check color modifications as well as adjust independent materials devoid of re-rendering the whole image through the new Render Mask feature.

Opt for the Image Sampler rollout (V-Ray>Render Settings), change the Render Mask dropdown to Selected and pick the objects the users will prefer to tweak. Make some modifications to the materials used to those objects and re-render.

Perform a superior rendering by combining sketchup and blender

The SketchUp is an outstanding tool for 3d modeling work. But the main problem arises while rendering any images with sketchup as the tool is not intended particularly for viewing. In order to produce photo-realistic images with sketchup, one has to apply several plugins and 3rd party renders like V-ray or Maxwell render. But for availing these softwares, the users have to purchase a license which may not be always affordable for users.

The users can utilize Blender, a free and open-source 3D computer graphics software suite useful for a series of 3d work like modeling, rigging, animation, simulation, rendering, compositing, motion tracking as well as editing and game formation, together with Sketchup for creating realistic images without buying any licence.

The sketchup professionals can create a 3d model and export it to DXF format model that is supported by both the free version of the software like SketchUp Pro. After exporting the model to DXF format, apply Autodesk FBX Converter to convert 3d model twice. Now the first and second FBX will be converted to OBJ format.

Once the geometry is appropriately imported into Blender, the users have to work on the settings attached Cycles own, that would be the materials and textures in conjunction with the lighting of the scene.

For getting the best result, try to build the most of the materials and textures of the selected settings for creating the images renderer as it solves the problems of mapping and makes sure the pragmatism of the surfaces in the image. It is recommended that all the setup procedure of the textures should be performed in Blender.

There are some useful courses on rendering with Blender:-

Go through the following video that focuses on how to export a scene from sketchup to blender and the fundamentals of the of the cycles render engine.

Make your own architecture with sketchup wikihouse

Alastair Parvin is the co-founder of WikiHouse. It is the latest open-source architecture website through which one can select a home plan online and then download the free plan and gather sheets of plywood to the local CNC machine. After that the parts and tools are sliced for amassing the home. Transmit these pieces to the building site and create your house within few days with the help of others.

http://vimeo.com/52383144

The plans concerning the structure of the WikiHouse are not generated from any architectural drawings instead of these are produced with Trimble Sketchup. The users get the ability to easily draft a structure and distribute it with the general public. The users also will be able to select a plan and customize it according to their requirements by applying the 3-D design program.

Here all the parts are numbered and finally the users will receive a full-size IKEA kit. There does not exist any bolts, screws as well as nails. The designs apply a wedge-and-peg system for constancy. The design library even consists of a printable mallet and ladder to be utilized in assembly. A group consisting of two or more people can easily create it by working in tandem.

Some useful tips for sketchup modelers while creating a sketchup model

Tip 1: While creating models for a small detailed object as for instance a light bulb filament or zipper pull, it becomes very difficult for sketchup users to find the perfect geometry or it becomes very complicated to maneuver the object inside the larger model.

To get rid of such issues, just follow these steps - Initially model the object at a bigger range like fifteen times the real scale. After completing it, create a group of the object and reduce it 15 times to the actual scale.

Tip 2: While dealing with an outsized site plan, the sketchup users often face problem to control sketchup models on screen as the models become unmanageable. There are several methods to cope up with the situation - keep away from multifaceted visual styles, turning off shadows as well as concealing groups and components on layers at the time of working. But if the sketchup users hide particular objects from view, they may not be able to complete the model successfully. So the users should follow some useful tips to maintain the objects to be detectable on screen and at the same time navigate the model as actively as per their requirements.

As for example the sketchup user deals with a site model and it necessitates that the users can view the exact location of numerous trees while starting the modeling process. If the user applies even fairly comprehensive 3d trees, the modeling process becomes very slower. Model an uncomplicated, low-polygon “popsicle" tree component and utilize that like a placeholder for the trees. Apply this low-poly model as a proxy and position it toward the exact location of the trees.

Once all the modeling process will be completed and scenes are placed, just right click on one of the popsicle tree components and opt for “reload” to explore more detailed 3d tree that fits in the final view. And if the detailed tree is already positioned on the site plan someplace in the file, click on the Components dialogue and select the home icon for viewing the list of components available in the existing file. With any "popsicle” tree Component selected, get the list within the detailed tree model, right-click over it and choose “Replace Selected”. In this case, just ensure that the component axis is identical for both proxy and detailed model.

The sketchup users can apply these tips for any kind of circumstances.
