"TrueBend: extension inspection”

SketchUp is simple yet powerful software full of special and useful extensions and TrueBend from Thom is another one that allows users to bend geometry within a single click.

About TrueBend:

This extension can be found in SketchUp’s Extension Warehouse and it bends instances for a given degree, saving the original length of the reference segment and in recent this reference segment is the bottom front of the boundingbox. As this works at the bottom front bounding box edge so it is recommended that the instance axis line up with the bend.

Tool Functions:

This tool or extension is totally designed to help users for bending objects within SketchUp for a given degree or radius and it also allows users to bend an object while keeping the length of the object intact. An example will definitely make this matter clear: suppose a user wants to bend a shape which is 60 inches long along a 180° bend then he/she will click and drag the red bar on the SketchUp design page for bending the object. Or the person can just click and drag to enter a value in the VCB to manually set the number of degrees in the bend; here the magic happens, this particular cool extension allows bending object sup to 360° where other extensions such as radial bend in FredoScale, only really allow users to go up to 180°. Moreover that, users can also adjust the number of segments created by typing an “s” behind any entered value and it is useful for things like spiral staircases or many other things where users need to bend as per on a set number of segments. Besides that, users can also adjust their created segments which has become softened or smoothed or may an unhidden geometry is created.

The above is the little explanations about the functions of this tool and here is the explanation of that tool applying on geometry by Aaron. According to his work TrueBend selects and groups certain geometry, there is only one icon of TrueBend and clicking on it appears some broken elements on the lower part of the geometry and a handle in the middle. By clicking and moving it the whole shape will get bended to the specified angle; right click on the object will give some options to fix the angle. His extension is just so perfect to use that while bending and working with; it holds on the length and bends exactly the same degree or edge as the users want in their model. Some geometry can be bended along the front and some are along back; all this can be happened just with one tool and one handle, it’s so much easier to do.

How to use fast style badges to accelerate your sketchup model

This exclusive sketchup video is presented by the youtuber The Sketchup Essentials. By watching this exclusive video one can learn how to use fast style badges inside sketchup to run your model more speedily. Some styles contain unique features like sketchy edges, extensions to lines, etc but these can reduce speed of your model significantly. It happens as the bigger models include numerous lines and faces.

While choosing a style in SketchUp, the styles section is applied in your tray. When you explore the various style options, you will find that some of the styles contain a little green stop watch in the corner.

The stop watch notifies the SketchUp users that these style apply less processing power, and therefore runs speedily.

If it is required to alter the styles and save them, SketchUp will auto detect if the produced new style requires a fast style badge.

If you’re dealing with a model and it is assumed that everything is dragging a bit, ensure to apply a style that contains a fast style badge.

How to design a british house in sketchup – An exclusive speed build tutorial

This speed build sketchup video is based on designing a general british house with sketchup through step-by-step processes. This sketchup video is presented by Jordan Wright.

Window+ is compatible with sketchup 2016.

It is very simple to design your house in sketchup with impressive floor plans and 3d models. Sketchup is very comprehensible for 3d modeling. You can start designing as soon as the software is installed. Sketchup contains diversified 3d and solid object design power. Sketchup is also mostly recognized for its precision and customization power.

While designing a house, it is recommended to start drawing an outline of your floor plan on paper. If you draw it on paper, you will obtain a point of reference when you go for digital sketching. If you have a graph paper, draw the outline on it, rather than white or notebook paper. Graph paper contains 1/4" inch boxes which are ideal while drawing to scale. Each 1/4" inch box will exemplify 1 square foot.

How To Transmit Landscape & Interior Designs From Sketchup To Revit By Using Dynamo

It is possible to easily connect your landscape or interior designs in SketchUp with your model in Revit with the use of the Flux plugins (flux.io/downloads) for SketchUp and Dynamo. You can get rid of recreating your sketchup model in Revit manually.

Given below the detailed processes for executing the same :-

Step 1: Generate a point in SketchUp
Revit develops families on the basis of point coordinates. So, you have to connect a point in SketchUp containing each tree to identify its location.

In order to make a point in SketchUp, draw a circle and delete the center, then right click on the edge of the circle for choosing “Find Center.” A point will be visible at the midpoint of the circle. The circle edge can be removed and the point can be applied directly.

Step 2: Connect the point with the base of the tree
Suppose to have a slew of trees modeled as components in your SketchUp scene, edit one of the components to include a point to the base of the tree.

Step 3: Transmit your trees to Flux
Now that each tree contains a reference point at its base, dispatch the trees to Flux.

Step 4: Draw Out the points in the Flow
Inside the Flow, dispersed the points from the trees by maintaining the following philosophy. The Get block is arranged to Lacing > Longest. Put in the output into a new data key so that it can be accepted in Dynamo.

Step 5: Obtain the points in Dynamo
Apply the Flux nodes to acquire the points from Flux.

Step 6: Generate a Family Instance at each point
Supply the points directly to the “point” input of the FamilyInstance.ByPoint node. Choose a tree Family Type out of the dropdown menu of the Family Types node and supply it into the other input of the FamilyInstance.ByPoint node.

Your trees will be shown in Revit.

This workflow can be easily rectified for other Planting and Furniture families by choosing a dissimilar Family Type in the Dynamo dropdown menu.

Ropefall for Sketchup – A newest sketchup extension

Balazs Torma develops Ropefall for sketchup. The plugin supports SketchUp 2015 and SketchUp 2016. This sketchup plugin is used to develop and design the model of realistic ropes, cables, wires with physics simulation instantly.

The algorithm simulates a rope that drops downward to bottom through a custom spring based physics model. The two ends of the rope won't go down as they are fixed. The falling rope is obstructed by hurdles in the way.
1. Turn on the line tool and sketch a polyline characterizing the preliminary shape of the rope.
2. Turn on the select tool and choose the polyline.
3. Click menu Draw → Ropefall → Fall.
4. Identify rope parameters and click the 'ok' button to begin simulation.
5. Wait unless the simulation is finished or discontinue it with the Esc key.

TIP: The simulation process can be more speedy if hiding parts of the model that (presumably) does not block the rope from falling.

One cab use a free version for three days as well as purchase a licence for USD 15. Seewww.sketchrope.com for further details.
