In this sketchup
video, Justin Geis has presented an exclusive tutorial where he briefly shows
how to create the design of a concrete foundation of a building with sketchup.
Here, a sketchup plugin known as Medek Foundations is used that is
developed by Nathaniel Wilkerson. The plugin costs $15. A free trial version is
also available. The plugin can be downloaded from SketchupUcation extension
warehouse.
The
plugin contains a simple interface for generating perfect 3D foundation and
footing geometry inside SketchUp. This plugin employs the SketchUp Ruby API
programming interface and supports SketchUp 2013, SketchUp 2014, SketchUp 2015,
SketchUp 2016, SketchUp 2017.
The
plugin facilitates the formation of the foundation types given below (Metric
and US/Imperial):
• Slab on Grade (Rectangle,Polygon) [containing garage curb and
internal footing options]
• Stemwall (Rectangle) [containing brick ledge and internal footing/floor beam options]
• Stemwall (Rectangle) [containing brick ledge and internal footing/floor beam options]
Footing types:
• (Under Construction)
Engineering (US/Imperial):
• (Under Construction) [ACI 318-14 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete]
Engineering (US/Imperial):
• (Under Construction) [ACI 318-14 Building Code Requirements for Structural Concrete]
With the use of industry standard practices, all foundation types
are drawn and designed.
With
this plugin, the users can produce either a rectangular or irregular (polygon)
shaped foundation plan. Once the rectangular foundation is chosen, the outline
is demarcated by just choosing three points which create the bounding rectangle
(bldg. width x bldg. length) of the foundation.
The Medeek
Foundation Plugin facilitates the users to perfectly illustrate the standard
concrete foundations, footings and flatwork inside SketchUp and substantiate
their architectural models in an efficient manner.
